THE COACHES JOURNEY

Whether you are exploring FCA Sports or are already serving on one of our club teams, the information below outlines the coaching journey we walk through with every FCA club coach.

STEP 1

Volunteer Impact Portal (VIP)

The VIP application and onboarding process is an all-in-one step designed to help us get to know each coach’s faith journey while also completing background checks and required training. This process helps ensure that every FCA Sports coach is equipped, prepared, and aligned with the mission and values of FCA Sports.

STEP 2

Background Check

Mandatory background checks are required for all FCA volunteers to help ensure a safe, trusted environment for every athlete and family we serve. This screening process helps verify eligibility to work with youth and supports FCA’s commitment to integrity, accountability, and athlete safety. All volunteers must successfully complete a background check prior to participating in any team or program activities.

STEP 3

Coaches Trainings

All FCA Sports coaches are required to complete specific trainings that help ensure the safety, care, and overall well-being of our athletes. These trainings are also designed to develop coaches as leaders who understand how to intentionally integrate discipleship, character development, and faith into their coaching journey. All required trainings can be found and completed through your VIP dashboard.

Coach 360

The 360 Coach Course is designed to equip coaches to lead with purpose both on and off the field. Through practical training and biblical teaching, coaches are challenged to reflect on their “why” behind coaching while developing tools to better lead and disciple athletes. The course focuses on holistic coaching by helping coaches care for their heart, mind, body, and leadership style. Ultimately, 360 Coach equips FCA coaches to make a lasting Kingdom impact through sport.

E3 Training

The E3 Playbook is a discipleship resource designed to help coaches and leaders practically live out Jesus’ call to make disciples. Built around the principles of Engage, Equip, and Empower, the training provides biblical teaching, practical tools, and actionable strategies for building a discipleship-focused team culture. E3 helps coaches understand how to intentionally invest in athletes both spiritually and relationally, using sport as a platform for Kingdom impact.

Child Abuse Prevention Training

Child Abuse Prevention training is a required safeguard that equips coaches and leaders to recognize, respond to, and prevent abuse in youth sports environments. This training provides clear guidance on appropriate boundaries, reporting procedures, and best practices for creating a safe and protective space for all athletes. FCA is committed to ensuring every athlete is cared for in an environment that prioritizes safety, trust, and well-being.
